‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Has Finally Begun Filming!!

Last year, Netflix and Guy Ritchie‘s series, The Gentlemen, established itself as a hit for the streamer. Debuting in March 2024, the show, which starred Theo James and the impressive Kaya Scodelario, offered a perfect blend of aristocracy, murder, crime and drug dealing, and after a surprisingly lengthy five-month wait, the series earned itself a second season renewal in August last year. If you had hoped to see the second season of the show this year, you are likely to be disappointed. The Gentlemen season 2 has just now begun filming in the UK. While this is good news for the show as a whole, with a prospective release window of 2026, it means the gap between the first and second seasons will be a pretty lengthy one.

In the second season, James and Scodelario will reprise their roles as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass, respectively. When the announcement was made regarding the renewal, Netflix said at the time that they “are thrilled the series will be returning to Netflix for a second season, and cannot wait to see what happens when the worlds of old money and drug money collide once more.” Given the success the show enjoyed upon its premiering, dethroning other high-flying series’ from top spot in its first month. It is surprising that it took the streamer five months to make a decision on renewal. The delayed renewal decision has translated into a delayed start in production, which in turn will morph into a lengthy wait for a season 2 premiere. The second season of The Gentlemen will also consist of eight episodes, just like the first.

‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Will Be Slightly Different From Its Predecessor

In February, James was discussing what lies ahead as it concerns the second season of the show. The actor confirmed that he and creator Ritchie weren’t interested in simply rehashing the key points and features that made the show’s first season great. James promised fans that the upcoming season would be bigger and darker than its predecessor. “We start Season 2 of The Gentlemen [in the spring], which is bigger and darker than Season 1,” the actor said at the time. “I really wanted to — and so did [creator] Guy [Ritchie] — make sure that we evolve the show, and that is the intention. As fun as the first season was, if you do the exact same thing again, it may not be as fun, essentially.”

In the aftermath of the first season, Scodelario discussed the show in an interview with Collider. She reveals that further exploration of Eddie and Susie’s partnership was something she’s looking forward to in Season 2, saying:

I think that’s definitely what we would explore. What’s interesting about Susie and Eddie is that they do work very well together, even when they are at loggerheads, even when they seem to be on opposing teams or not trusting each other, they have a very interesting chemistry and a very good work dynamic. Whether they like it or not, they would have to explore that a little bit more.”

Stay tuned for more updates on The Gentlemen Season 2 as production begins. Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
