‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’: ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel Gets a New Title!!

The MonsterVerse just got a whole lot hotter. Legendary Pictures has officially revealed the title for its next kaiju showdown, and it’s going nuclear — the sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is now titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. While plot details are still sealed tighter than Hollow Earth, the title itself is already sparking theories. Supernova? Are we going cosmic this time? Is an intergalactic Titan on the way? And more importantly: will Godzilla and Kong need space suits? If they don’t, we’re out.

Production is already underway in Queensland, Australia, marking the fourth MonsterVerse entry to shoot in the region after Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The New Empire. Legendary is once again rolling cameras at Village Roadshow Studios, where the film is expected to pump over AUD$93 million into the local economy and support more than 400 cast and crew members. That’s a lot of coffee for a lot of crew wrangling very large monsters.

And yes — the Titans are teaming up again. Whether it’s another round of Hollow Earth chaos, ancient threats from below, or a new alien kaiju hellbent on turning Earth into a glowing crater, the duo of Godzilla and Kong are back in the ring. Here’s hoping for more tag-team glory and less molar-yanking trauma. (Seriously, poor Kong.)

Who Stars In ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’?

Leading the charge this time is The Last of Us worst person alive breakout Kaitlyn Dever, who confirmed her role during a red carpet interview in Sydney: “I’m shooting another film up in Queensland right now,” she said. When pressed if it was the next Godzilla x Kong installment, she laughed and replied, “It would be. It would be, yes. I feel like I can say that now… but yeah, that’s what I’m doing up there.”

Dever joins returning fan-favorite Dan Stevens, reprising his role as Trapper — aka the guy who yanked a Titan tooth out of Kong’s skull last time and somehow made it look cool. Also in the lineup are Matthew Modine, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill, in what’s shaping up to be one of the most stacked casts in the franchise yet. Behind the camera, Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) takes over directing duties from The New Empire’s Adam Wingard, with a script by David Callaham (Shang-Chi, Godzilla) and Michael Lloyd Green.

Stay tuned for more updates as Godzilla x Kong: Supernova takes shape. The film will open on March 26, 2027.
