The live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon is coming this summer and fans of Berk are excited to see what the new film has in store for us. Mason Thames is bringing our beloved Hiccup to life and getting to see his relationship with his dragon, Toothless, grow is one of the most exciting parts of the live-action adaptation. And now ScreenRant has shared a new exclusive look at the film that highlights another important relationship in the How to Train Your Dragon universe.

Hiccup and Toothless’ dynamic warmed the hearts of fans since the animated film was released back in 2010. Since, the two have been on many adventures together throughout the subsequent sequels, but Toothless is not Hiccup’s only important relationship. He is also romantically linked to Astrid (played by Nico Parker in the live-action film). Astrid is a fellow Viking and one who is better at Viking things at the start of the franchise and Hiccup has to earn Astrid’s respect and affection. But in the new image from ScreenRant, we get to see Astrid meeting Toothless for the first time!

The image shows Hiccup standing between Toothless and Astrid as she is looking shocked behind him. It is an important moment in the animated film and the new image has us excited to see how Astrid and Toothless will interact in the upcoming live-action release. After all, they are two of the most important beings in Hiccup’s life!

The New How to Train Your Dragon Had Positive First Reactions

At CinemaCon back in the beginning of April, theater owners and journalists had the chance to see the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon at the convention. The reactions to the film were overwhelmingly positive, with fans sharing how emotionally charged the live-action adaptation was and how beautiful it was seeing Berk come to life like this. And Universal is leaning into the love for the franchise with Epic Universe, including a nod to Berk witha. new themed land as well as the chance to meet Toothless yourself!

The new image of Astrid and Hiccup is an exciting one for fans who know the franchise. But even if you’re heading into the live-action film without any previous knowledge, it is still impressive to see how large and adorable Toothless is! He’s the best, and we cannot wait to see these three in action.
