‘Chad Powers’: Glen Powell Sets Two Episode Hulu Premiere Date!!

Get ready to go deep, because Chad Powers is suiting up. Hulu confirmed during its 2025 upfront presentation in New York that the new sports comedy series Chad Powers, starring and co-created by Glen Powell, will premiere with two episodes on September 30, followed by new weekly episodes every Tuesday.

Inspired by the viral Eli Manning sketch from ESPN+’s Eli’s Places, the half-hour comedy follows Russ Holliday, a cocky college quarterback whose antics tank his career prospects. In a last-ditch effort to stay in the game, he dons a wig, mustache, and a new identity — introducing Chad Powers, the most lovable walk-on athlete to ever fake his way onto a struggling Southern football team.

One of Hollywood’s fastest rising stars, the capybara-esque leading man isn’t just the lead of Chad Powers, he’s actually the heart and soul of the project. In addition to playing the titular gridiron alter ego, he co-created the series alongside Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), and co-wrote the pilot. Both serve as executive producers, with Powell’s Barnstorm Productions producing and Waldron repping Anomaly Pictures. But like all good sporting projects, the sports stars need to be involved too, and this one features NFL royalty. The show draws direct inspiration from a character created by Eli Manning, and both Eli and Peyton Manning are executive producing through Omaha Productions, alongside Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN.

Joining Powell in the cast are Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson — presumably someone deeply suspicious of a quarterback who looks suspiciously like Glen Powell in a wig.

What Else Is Glen Powell Making?

If it feels like Glen Powell is everywhere right now, that’s because he kind of is. So hot right now. While Chad Powers marks a return to comedy following hits like Anyone But You, Powell’s schedule is stacked across genres. He’ll star opposite Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris in Huntington, a revenge thriller from Emily the Criminal director John Patton Ford, and he’s attached to Monsanto, a legal drama co-starring Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern, directed by John Lee Hancock. He’s also reteaming with JJ Abrams on a project with Jenna Ortega, and recently wrapped Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, a reimagining of the Stephen King classic, alongside Josh Brolin, Michael Cera, Lee Pace, and Katy O’Brian.

Chad Powers premieres September 30 on Hulu.
