It’s been over a year since the first images of Nuremberg were released, and now the political thriller starring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Michael Shannon just got another exciting look. Sony Pictures has announced its acquisition of Nuremberg and also released another image from the film, which can be found below. The studio has also confirmed plans to release Nuremberg in theaters nationwide on November 7 later this year. The film was written and directed by James Vanderbilt, who is best known for his work as a scribe on Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man movies and for working on the Scream horror franchise. Leo Woodall, who starred in The White Lotus Season 2 and recently led Apple TV+’s Prime Target series, will also star in the film.
Rami Malek started the year strong with his work on The Amateur, the unorthodox spy thriller with Laurence Fishburne that exceeded expectations at the box office. During the press tour for The Amateur, Collider’s Steve Weintraub caught up with Malek, who praised both the script and writing ability of James Vanderbilt and the performance of his co-star Russell Crowe in Nuremberg. The film tells the story of the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the Nazis at the end of World War II and follows Douglas Kelley (Malek), a psychiatrist whose job is to figure out which Nazis are fit to stand trial for their heinous war crimes. He ends up in a battle of wits with Hermann Göring (Crowe), who was Hitler’s right-hand man during the war. Richard E. Grant, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, and Wrenn Schmidt will also star.
What’s Next for the Stars of ‘Nuremberg’?
Nuremberg is the only project Rami Malek has in the works, but it likely won’t be long before something else is announced for the star, who won an Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Crowe has been tapped to star alongside Matt Nable and Luke Hemsworth in Beast in Me, and he’ll feature with Vera Farmiga in The Billion Dollar Spy. Shannon, who previously played Zod in Man of Steel, will star opposite new Superman actor David Corenswet in Mr. Irrelevant, the football drama written by Nick Santora and directed by Jonathan Levine.
Nuremberg will be released in theaters on November 7.
