‘Pokémon’ Teaming Up With Aardman for New Stop-Motion Series!!

Today is a special day for Pokémon fans. In one of its traditional online events, the Pokémon Presents, a slate of new announcements were made regarding the future of the franchise. Fans were, of course, eager to know when the next game was getting released, but there were plenty of other things to be excited about. One of the announcements was the new series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu. Produced by Aardman — the stop-motion animated studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep — the comedy series is slated to premiere in 2027, as Collider revealed earlier this year. A teaser was unveiled to showcase the new series’ look and tone, and you can check it out in this article.

Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu will center around the two Pokémon from the title. The trailer hints that Sirfectch’d will be tasked with taking care of an erratic Pichu, and this will generate a series of funny events. The duo is barely in the teaser trailer, however. It only shows a Wooloo quietly eating grass while being surprised by several loud noises behind it — the ruckus that Pichu seems to cause. So far these are the only three Pokémon that we know for sure are appearing in the series, but fans are certainly curious to see who else will get the Aardman treatment.

The New Pokémon Series Is Taking Trainers to a Familiar Region

The Pokémon YouTube channel revealed that the series will take place “in a region trainers have explored before” and “one that is very close to Aardman’s heart.” You don’t need to be a genius to put two and two together and assume that it will take place in Galar, the Pokémon region that is inspired by the United Kingdom. In fact, Sirfetch’d is one of the new Pokémon that was created for the region, so that is another possible hint. However, fans will have to be a little patient and spend a year and a half keeping their eyes peeled for new information.

Maybe it’s a little early to reveal, but Aardman is yet to announce who is helming Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, as well as how many episodes are being produced by the studio. All that information will certainly be revealed at some point, so for now we can only enjoy the teaser trailer and start counting down the days until 2027.
