‘The Runarounds’ Trailer Previews the New Musical Drama Series from ‘Outer Banks’ Creators!! Check It Out!!

Prime Video is on a mission to keep young adult shows alive in the culture, and the next one comes from the creators of one of the most popular teen shows on Netflix, Outer Banks. The Runarounds is created by Josh Pate and Jonas Pate, and tells the story of aspiring rock stars on the verge of adulthood. The series features real-life singers who perform all the songs in the show. Their entire discography will be available to stream when the entire eight-episode season drops on September 1, but the first two singles are out on music streaming platforms. The streamer also released a trailer, featuring one of the singles, “Funny How the Universe Works.” The show’s official description reads:

The Runarounds follows a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together the summer after graduation to form a rock band, united by their shared love of music and near-impossible dream of stardom. Over the course of one unforgettable summer, they throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break — falling in love, getting into trouble, and building the kind of bonds that feel like family along the way. With original music, romantic entanglements, and the raw highs and lows of coming-of-age, The Runarounds captures the rush of risking everything at the edge of adulthood to chase your dreams.

The series stars William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, along with Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard. Executive Producers include the Pates, Joon Yun, David Wilcox, Shannon Burke, Scott Lambert, and Lisa Mae Fincannon, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell.

What Other Young Adult Shows Are Streaming on Prime Video?

The streamer has a wealth of teen shows in various genres. The Summer I Turned Pretty is currently releasing new episodes and is arguably one of the biggest shows on the platform. Recent releases include Motorheads, We Were Liars, Maxton Hall, Culpa Mia and Overcompensating, but there are several other original shows subscribers can stream. Other shows in the genre are being developed, including the Legally Blonde prequel Elle, Off Campus, and Fourth Wing. Meanwhile, production for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks is currently going on.

The Runarounds releases on Monday, September 1 and all episodes will be available to stream worldwide.
