‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Adds Chase Sui Wonders!!

We know what both Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chase Sui Wonders are doing this summer — the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot! After sharing the stage in this summer’s slasher event, I Know What You Did Last Summer, the pair are now hard at work preparing the pilot episode of the eagerly-awaited production. It was recently confirmed that the Bodies Bodies Bodies alum will be stepping into the story in a one-off guest-starring role as a character named Shirley, who is currently thought to be a card-carrying member of the undead. Wonders adds her name to a call sheet that also includes Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who secured the leading role of the new chosen one on whom the revamped project will center.

As for the project’s regular ensemble, a handful of names were recently revealed to be joining the pilot, with the likes of Sarah Bock (Severance), Daniel Di Tomasso (CSI: Vegas), Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU), and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier) also on board. From friends to family members, these fine folks will fill out the world surrounding Armstrong’s Nova and — should all go the way that the studio is hoping — many will turn into a new generation of the Scooby Gang. As of right now, no cameos from the flagship have been revealed, but Gellar has made plenty of comments that lead us to believe the project will be overflowing with recognizable faces.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Has a Truly Immortal Idea for the Series

Back in June, the original slayer said, “My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.” Between the living and the dead, there are plenty of options for story continuations and those original cast members certainly know it. Following Gellar’s comments, her co-star, Charisma Carpenter, who appeared as Cordelia Chase in both the original series and its spin-off Angel, said:

I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration. I’m sure there are caveats — Cordelia died on Angel not on Buffy. I don’t know what that means for Cordelia specifically — but I’m hopeful that it includes Cordelia, obviously, it would be a dream to be included, and it would just be so poetic for that to occur, and for it to occur with this group. These writers are wildly creative, I’m sure they could figure it out if they wanted to, if it was a fan thing, where if there was a thirst or craving or need for Cordelia to be there, I’m sure with one hell of a creative team they have leading the writers room, it would be possible.”
