Hayden Christensen Wants to Headline a Darth Vader Spin-Off!!

Hayden Christensen has already returned to a galaxy far, far away in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, but the actor isn’t done exploring one of cinema’s most iconic characters. Speaking at Fan Expo Boston, Christensen discussed the fact that he’s more than ready to continue telling stories as both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader — and he has two eras in particular at the top of his wish list. From the war-torn days of the Clone Wars to the fearsome reign of Darth Vader, Christensen says there’s still “good, meaty stuff” left to explore. And if the chance came to headline a Vader spin-off, he’d “be there in a heartbeat.”

Christensen Wants to Wear the Clone Wars Armor Some More

While fans have seen Christensen’s Anakin in prequel films and flashbacks in Disney+ series, the actor believes there’s still room to explore the Jedi Knight at the height of the Clone Wars. “I’d love to get to do some more Clone Wars-era Anakin, too. I think there are some fun stories there to tell,” Christensen said. “And if it meant I got to swing a lightsaber with Ewan [McGregor] again, that would be amazing.” The animated Clone Wars series gave viewers a deeper look at Anakin’s wartime leadership and personal struggles, but seeing Christensen in that role in live action could bring new layers to the character, especially alongside McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ariana Greenblatt’s take on the younger live-action Ahsoka Tano.

But He’s Also Ready to Put the Vader Armor Back On

Christensen is just as eager to explore the other side of Anakin’s journey: his time as Darth Vader. “I’d love to get to do some more stuff in the Darth Vader timeline… I think there’s some good, meaty stuff there to explore still,” he said. “If the powers that be decided a Vader spin-off is something they want to see, I’d be there in a heartbeat. 100%. I would love to. It would be amazing to keep exploring this character in both eras.” A Vader-focused project could dive deeper into the character’s inner conflict and untold missions between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but the opportunities really don’t end there. Christensen also noted during the panel that exploring Anakin as a Force Ghost further, as he was seen in the Season 1 finale of Ahsoka, is also of interest: “…all of it would be good fun for me.”

Christensen’s enthusiasm makes it clear he’s ready to step back into the suit, or the Jedi robes and armor, whenever Lucasfilm calls. With Star Wars continuing to expand on Disney+, the possibilities for seeing more of his story are wide open.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
