‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 5 Teaser Teases New Suspects!! Check It Out!!

Only Murders in the Building‘s Season 5 trailer is here, promising the emergence of new suspects and the return of some old friends (and enemies). Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are on the trail of the killer who murdered the Arconia’s longtime doorman in the new season of the Hulu mystery comedy. The new season will premiere on September 9. In the new trailer, the police have determined the death of doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca), whose body was discovered in last season’s finale, to be an accident. Naturally, Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Mabel Mora (Gomez) aren’t buying it, and soon another investigation is in full swing…as is another season of their podcast.

This time, the investigation draws in a mobster (Bobby Cannavale) and his extended family, three of the richest people on Earth (Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, and Logan Lerman), and the wife (Téa Leoni) of a missing businessman, the latter of whom hooks up with Charles, much to his co-hosts’ displeasure. The trailer also promises the return of Meryl Streep as Oliver’s wife Loretta Durkin, Michael Cyril Creighton as neighbor Howard, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as police detective Donna Williams, Richard Kind as oddball Arconia resident Vince Fish, and, for the first time since season two, Nathan Lane as crooked restaurant magnate Teddy Dimas. It also teases new characters played by Dianne Wiest, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, and Jermaine Fowler. Did any of them kill Lester? Did anyone kill Lester? You’ll have to tune into Hulu this fall to find out.

What Is ‘Only Murders in the Building’ About?

Taking place in the Arconia, an upscale Manhattan apartment building, the show centers on washed-up actor Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), eccentric Broadway impresario Oliver Putnam (Short), and disaffected millennial Mabel Mora (Gomez), who come together thanks to a shared love of true-crime podcasts when fellow Arconia resident Tim Kono (Julian Cihi) turns up dead. The trio turn out to be surprisingly capable investigators, and eventually find the actual killer. Each season sees them solve another murder either in or connected to the Arconia; in the second season, they solve the stabbing death of Arconia gadfly Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell); in season three, they look into the death of arrogant actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), who ends up at the bottom of an Arconia elevator shaft; and season four sees the crew take on a personal case, after Charles’ longtime stunt double and confidante, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), is shot dead by a sniper in his apartment.

Only Murders in the Building premiered in 2021 to near-universal acclaim; it currently holds a 97% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman (Grace and Frankie).

Only Murders in the Building‘s fifth season will premiere on Hulu on September 9, 2025.
