Fans have long understood to expect the unexpected from Marvel Studios. The studio does its best to do fan service, keep secrets, and throw even fans off the trail when it comes to their big-budget adventures. All eyes are currently on Avengers: Doomsday, which brings back Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers to the MCU fold. To avoid rumors and spoilers, the studio gave fans a full cast announcement before filming began in England. However, fans doubt there are characters yet to be revealed, and now an MCU actor has opened up about it.
The actor in question is Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose character, CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, is sort of the new Nick Fury as she has been seen in various post-credit scenes, giving new heroes shady “tasks.” Her story continued in the recently released Thunderbolts* that rebranded itself as the New Avengers at the end. The cast Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, David Harbor, and more are already announced for Avengers: Doomsday, while Louis-Dreyfus is not on the long list of confirmed actors, she recently told Entertainment Weekly that she’s “feeling very positive” about her return. When asked about her appearance, she slyly said:
“I certainly hope so,” she says. “I’m not at liberty to say, but I know that anything is possible and I’m up for more play in the Marvel universe at any moment. I stand at the ready.”
‘Thunderbolts*’ Will Be Protecting Earth 616 in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
For the uninitiated, Thunderbolts* brings together a ragtag team of Marvel anti-heroes that save day, from Bob’s alter ego, The Void (Lewis Pullman). At the end of the movie, Val (Louis-Dreyfus) takes full credit for putting the team together. Furthermore, the post-credit scene of the movie brings the Fantastic Four to Earth-616. It is one of the most important post-credit scenes in the franchise, given that it directly leads into Doomsday and was directed by the Russos. Given the heroes are already confirmed for the big superhero fest, Val’s appearance shouldn’t come as a surprise and also because she’s the director of the CIA. What she’d be up to would be a different question altogether.
The Thunderbolts* will return for Doomsday alongside Fantastic Four’s Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Also starring are Marvel vets like Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and many more.
Thunderbolts* is streaming on Disney+.
