Months ahead of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, the future of the MCU show has already been decided. News broke this morning that Daredevil: Born Again has been renewed for Season 3, which aims to begin filming next year. Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming Brad Winderbaum confirmed the news during a recent interview: “In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for Season 3, and we start shooting next year.” The first season returned stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio to their roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, and also brought back other Marvel Netflix veterans like Jon Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll.
This welcomed news comes after it was rumored earlier this year that Daredevil: Born Again would not move forward with a third season following the conclusion of Season 2. Cox referred to Season 2 in passing as the “last season,” but D’Onofrio later clarified that Cox was talking about the last season they had filmed, not the last season of the show entirely. Details about Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 are being kept under wraps, and they likely won’t be made available until the show begins principal photography early next year.
Daredevil: Born Again was written and created for television by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, along with Dario Scardapane, who also showruns the hit MCU series. Justin Benson and Aaron Morehead, famous for their work on Marvel’s Moon Knight and Loki series, served as lead directors on the show and are expected back for Season 2. The first season of Daredevil: Born Again earned scores of 87% from critics and 78% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it produced strong viewership for Disney+.
Is Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
Charlie Cox has not been confirmed to have a role in Avengers: Doomsday, but it’s possible that his involvement in the film is being kept under wraps, along with other stars. Fans are expecting the roster of heroes for Doomsday to be unlike any other superhero movie ever, so if Cox has a role in the film, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising. However, it’s also possible that Marvel wants to keep heroes like Daredevil and Kingpin more grounded for street-level stories, rather than involving them in major multiversal blowouts against powerful villains like Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.)
