‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’: Keira Knightley Provides Disappointing Update!!

Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is unarguably one of the most intriguing characters in movie history. His portrayal of the iconic pirate, a mix of Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards, kept the Pirates of the Caribbean‘s stories unpredictable and the audience on the edge of their seats. So, a new movie in the franchise would be practically unthinkable without him, and his co-stars Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth Swan, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, though the latter two have already missed one installment.

A lot has changed since Depp’s legal battles and public fallout with Disney. There has been a lot of contention around his return, but the signs seem positive as Bloom recently pitched an idea with all the stars returning. Apropos to that, Knightley was recently asked on the red carpet about her return to the franchise, to which she revealed that “there haven’t been any conversations.” When asked about how she’d like to explore her character, she stated:

“It was a very long time ago. And I don’t remember what happened to her. So, I’m not quite sure where she should go afterwards. She should be a pirate, right?”

At the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Elisabeth and Will are reunited after the latter’s curse breaks. However, the movie leaves some loose threads to pick up their story again. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see how the love triangle between Jack, Elisabeth, and Will pans out if and when the new Pirates movie arrives.

What Do We Know About ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’?

Painfully little. From rumors of a female-led Pirates movie to Depp’s return to helm the franchise once again, there’s a lot going on with Disney’s $4.5 billion franchise. However, one thing is for sure: Depp‘s personal controversies make the whole process more complicated. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously teased that he had spoken to Depp about his return. He revealed, “If he likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it,Bruckheimer said. “It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know… We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven’t quite gotten there yet, but we’re close.

The entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is streaming on Disney+.
