Whether it’s the impending showdown between the eponymous group of vigilantes and Homelander (Antony Starr) or more about the crossover with Gen V, there’s a lot to look forward to in Season 5 of The Boys. But if you asked a certain fanbase what they were most excited about, they’d tell you the Supernatural reunion. While we might not be hopping in the Impala to follow Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) on a demon-hunting quest, we will be seeing them alongside their fellow Supernatural alum, Misha Collins in the final season of the Prime Video series. For those hoping for more where that came from, news broke yesterday that yet another Supernatural crossover is set to go down in the universe of The Boys — we’ll just need to wait a bit.
For several weeks, cameras have been up and rolling on The Boys prequel series, Vought Rising, which, along with telling the origin story of the corrupt titular company, will also dig into the early days of Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront. Now we know that Ackles won’t be the only Supernatural face in the mix, as Mark Pellegrino is also along for the ride. Fans of the long-running CW series will undoubtedly remember Pellegrino for his role as the one and only Lucifer, who tortured the Winchester brothers throughout numerous seasons and storylines. As of right now, Pellegrino’s role in Vought Rising is under wraps, but he’s set to appear in a recurring role.

Yesterday’s casting announcement also revealed that the offshoot has added a handful of other performers in recurring roles, including Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Annie Shapero (House of the Dragon), and Eric Johnson (Smallville). These performers join the previously announced cast that, in addition to Cash and Ackles, will see Mason Dye (Teen Wolf), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard), Nicolo Pasetti (That Dirty Black Bag), Will Hochman (Blue Bloods), Elizabeth Posey (Heels), Jorden Myrie (The Strays), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8) thrown into the satirical superhero world.
Unfortunately, for now, a specific release date hasn’t been set for Vought Rising to take to the sky and fly onto Prime Video. But, with cameras already filming, and first-look images beginning to make their way to the public, it appears that things are going swimmingly.
