It’s been 13 years since the first episode of Peaky Blinders premiered around the world, and all these years later, the show is just as relevant as it’s ever been. This is due to the recent release of The Immortal Man, the sequel film set during WWII in the years after the original series. Not only did the film return Cillian Murphy to his long-time role as Tommy Shelby, it also cast other major stars like Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth in key roles. The film premiered in select theaters around the world at the start of this month before it made its Netflix debut a few weeks ago. It has yet to be dethroned at the top of streaming charts, despite several new arrivals.
Now that The Immortal Man has come and gone, and Tommy Shelby’s fate has officially been sealed, fans are curious about the future of Peaky Blinders. It’s hard not to be, too, considering Murphy has been the face of the franchise since its premiere. Netflix has confirmed that it’s developing a new Peaky Blinders sequel series, which will be set in the 1950s, in the years after The Immortal Man. Plot specifics about the show are being held under wraps, but news broke this afternoon that Lashana Lynch has joined the cast of the show, which is now in production. It’s unclear at this time who she’ll be playing or how big her role will be. Lynch is famous for her work in Marvel movies such as Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and she also played 007 opposite Daniel Craig in the 2021 James Bond film, No Time to Die.
When Does the Next ‘Peaky Blinders’ Series Come Out?
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for its new Peaky Blinders series, though it has officially confirmed that it’s in development, so it’s no secret that the streamer is working on the project. With cameras officially rolling and filming expected to continue for the next few months, this leaves the most likely window of release for the next Peaky Blinders series sometime next year. Original creator Steven Knight is writing the new show, and it’s rumored that Barry Keoghan will have a lead role as Duke Shelby.
