‘By Any Means’: Paramount Officially Sets September Release Date For Mark Wahlberg led Crime Thriller!!

2025 was a busy year for Mark Wahlberg after he got the ball rolling with Flight Risk, which also served as a reunion for him and director Mel Gibson. The aviation thriller opened in January to middling reviews, and it left theaters after nearly doubling its $25 million budget with a $48 million box office performance. Wahlberg took the summer off before he returned to Play Dirty, the Prime Video original crime thriller co-starring LaKeith Stanfield and produced by Robert Downey Jr. Play Dirty cracked Prime Video’s list of the top 10 biggest streaming premieres for any original movie. Wahlberg capped off his year in 2025 by reuniting with Michelle Monaghan for the action sequel, The Family Plan 2, which began streaming on Apple TV near the end of last year. The added star power of Game of Thrones veteran Kit Harington has helped the film stay in the Apple TV top 10, even to this day.

Wahlberg returns to Prime Video next week with his new sports/action comedy, Balls Up, which co-stars Paul Walter Hauser. However, that isn’t his only feature film set to premiere this year. Wahlberg has also been tapped to star opposite Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Giancarlo Esposito in By Any Means, a new crime thriller that’s been in the works at Paramount for a while. This afternoon, Paramount announced that it would release the film exclusively in theaters later this year on September 4, on Labor Day, and the first footage from the crime thriller will arrive next week at CinemaCon. By Any Means also stars Nicole Beharie, David Strathairn, Josh Lucas, and Ethan Embry.
