‘Malamaal Weekly 2’: ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ Director to Helm Comedy Sequel!!

In February 2026, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to inform readers that Malamaal Weekly 2 in the works. We now bring to you another exciting update. As per our sources, the makers have signed Amit Joshi to direct the comic caper. Amit Joshi had directed the successful 2024 entertainer, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Amit Joshi has proved his worth as a director and also as a writer. The makers are confident that he would be apt to do justice to the comic quotient and the madness which is present in abundance in the script of Malamaal Weekly 2.”

Earlier, there were reports that another director named AmitAmit Sharma of Maidaan (2024), Badhaai Ho (2018) and Tevar (2015) fame – is in talks to direct Malamaal Weekly 2. A few weeks ago, he clarified to Hindustan Times, “There seems to be some speculation around this, but no, this is not true. I’m not attached to the film in any capacity…I’d really appreciate it if we could avoid circulating unverified information.”

In March 2026, Hindustan Times also reached out to Paresh Rawal and asked him if he had signed Malamaal Weekly. To which he replied, “Yes, it is true. I am doing the film.”

As per sources, Riteish Deshmukh and Rajpal Yadav, who were a part of Malamaal Weekly (2006), just like Paresh, have also been approached for the sequel. However, the source doesn’t have information on whether the two talented actors have signed the film.

Coming back to Amit Joshi, he directed Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya along with Aradhana Sah. Amit has also been the writer of films like Trapped (2017), Panga (2020), Babli Bouncer (2022), India Lockdown (2022) and Mumbaikar (2023).
