‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 Trailer Teases the Pogues’ Final Ride!! Check It Out!!

Young adult titles have been taking over streaming lately, and we can all agree that this trend is unlikely to slow down, especially with numerous adaptations in development. Currently, Prime Video appears to be the leading platform thanks to popular titles like Off Campus, Maxton Hall, Your Fault: London, and, of course, The Summer I Turned Pretty, all of which consistently rank among the most-watched globally. Also prominent in the YA genre is Netflix, with hits like A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Heartstopper, XO Kitty, and Heartbreak High. Now, the streamer’s hottest YA series is finally set to return after nearly two years off the air.

Having premiered on April 15, 2020, Outer Banks, commonly known as OBX, is a high-stakes teen drama centered on the conflict between two groups of teenagers searching for a lost treasure. The adventure series, set in a coastal town along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, was renewed for a fifth and final season in November 2024; however, a release date wasn’t announced at the time. Netflix has now officially dropped the return date for the Pogues’ final adventure, alongside the Season 5 synopsis and an intense teaser hinting at the danger awaiting the crew.

That said, Outer Banks Season 5 premieres globally on August 20, 2026. The season will consist of 10 one-hour episodes and, unlike Season 4, will not be dropped across two parts. Series creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke all return as executive producers and writers to conclude the story they began back six years ago. Returning in the new season are Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo.

‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 Will Be the Perfect Conclusion

Season 5 of the 79% Rotten Tomatoes drama, as described in the official synopsis, will see the Pogues reaching their lowest point following the tragic loss of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Morocco. Stranded far from home and grieving, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face familiar threats. With Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs closing in, and the Kooks making sure the Pogues have no home to return to, John B (Stokes), Sarah (Cline), Kiara (Bailey), Pope (Daviss), and Cleo (Grant) must depend on their resourcefulness and form an uneasy alliance with Rafe (Starkey) to prevent everything from falling apart.

Outer Banks returns on Netflix in August.
