‘The Morning Show’ to End with Season 5!!

Apple‘s first ever breakout hit that put them on the streaming map is finally going to sign off with a final broadcast. Since launching alongside the streaming service itself in 2019, the series has dealt with #MeToo, the pandemic, corporate espionage and takeovers and one of the showiest casts in television history. But now, the next chapter is the final one.

Apple has officially confirmed that The Morning Show will end with Season 5. The final season is currently in production and is expected to premiere in 2027. While a release date has not yet been announced, the show’s established two-year pattern makes a September launch appear likely.

Why Is ‘The Morning Show’ Ending?

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will return as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, with the final season being designed and written as the conclusion to the story, rather than a sudden cancellation.

“From the beginning, Apple has supported our vision for The Morning Show, and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what’s happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor,” said Aniston. “It’s been such a privilege to work with this insanely talented cast, and our extraordinary writers, producers, and crew. We’ve become such a family and we’re all so excited to share this final season. And going in knowing it would be our last, we were so fortunate to craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honor these characters the way they deserve.”

“The past nine years producing and acting in The Morning Show have been the honor of a lifetime,” added Witherspoon. “This was always more than a show about a newsroom — it was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost. Telling that story has been the creative privilege of my career. Thank you to Apple for their unwavering support, to our visionary writers, our incredible crew, and our extraordinarily talented cast, who brought five seasons to life with a truth audiences believed every step of the way. It has been a stellar creative experience — one I will always treasure.”

The returning cast includes Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), Mark Duplass (The League), Nestor Carbonell (Lost), Karen Pittman (And Just Like That…), Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men). Season 5 will also introduce Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) as billionaire investor Lukas, Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as UBN’s new Head of News, and Reneé Rapp (Mean Girls) as a rising star within the network. Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan are also joining the cast.

The series is produced by Media Res alongside Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Aniston’s Echo Films, with Charlotte Stoudt serving as showrunner and Mimi Leder directing. The Morning Show Season 5 will premiere on Apple TV in 2027.
