HBO has unleashed plenty of critically acclaimed, must-watch shows in the last few years, but none have had the same impact as The Pitt. The show stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael Robinavitch, and after featuring as one of the lead doctors on ER for so many years, he officially returns to the medical drama with The Pitt. The first season of The Pitt shattered viewership records and won Emmys, and during an era where many streaming shows take years off between seasons, The Pitt returned for Season 2 earlier this year, almost exactly one year after the Season 1 premiere. HBO was so confident that The Pitt Season 2 was going to be a smash hit that the show was renewed for Season 3 days before the premiere, and Season 2 just received its first exciting update this morning.
HBO officially unleashed the first teaser for The Pitt Season 3 this afternoon, hardly four months removed from the Season 2 finale. The show is not expected to move its release date from January 2027, but it’s comforting to know that it won’t be subject to delays with it already being ahead of schedule on Season 3. The new teaser shows even more conflict between Dr. Robby and Dr. Langdon (played by Patrick Ball), which Ball teased to Collider during a recent interview to talk about the show. The first-look also teases a much larger role for Dr. Jack Abbot (played by Shawn Hatosy) who recently confirmed that he was in the middle of directing Season 3, Episode 5 right now. If The Pitt Season 3 is shooting in order like the first two seasons did, that means the shots from the new teaser are all from the first four or five episodes.
‘The Pitt’ Season 3 Is Losing One of Its Best Doctors
Fans were devastated a few months ago when news broke that Supriya Ganesh would not reprise her role as Dr. Samira Mohan in the third season. Shabana Azeez will also step into a smaller role in Season 3, as Victoria Javadi has been moved to a psychological unit, meaning she will no longer work in the ER. Most other recurring members from the first two seasons of The Pitt are expected back in Season 3.
