Mike Colter is set to return to his star-making role of Luke Cage in the next season of the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again. Before he steps into the role of the bulletproof Harlem superhero, however, he’s returning to network TV in a new legal thriller that’ll debut this fall on CBS. The network just released a new trailer for the series that should whet audiences’ appetites until it premieres next month.
The series will be a reunion between Colter and husband-and-wife creative duo Robert and Michelle King. The Kings have been reliable hitmakers for CBS, creating The Good Wife and its spin-offs The Good Fight and Elsbeth. They previously worked with Colter on the supernatural thriller series Evil, which starred Colter as a troubled priest who’s part of a team sent by the Catholic Church to investigate supernatural phenomena. That series premiered on CBS in 2019, and moved to Paramount+ for its final three seasons.
Now, they’ll collaborate on the new series Cupertino, which takes its name from the California city in the heart of Silicon Valley. Colter stars as Michael Price, a lawyer who was part of a booming tech start-up before he was unceremoniously ousted and cheated out of his valuable stock options. Now, he’s starting his own law firm that will take on the tech titans of the industry, partnering with Olivia Siffre (Rachel Keller, Tokyo Vice), another recently unemployed attorney. Together, they’ll fight the powerful for the powerless, starting on Thursday, October 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
Who Else Stars on ‘Cupertino’?
In addition to Colter and Keller, the series will also star Busy Phillips (Cougar Town) as Natalia, the ex-wife of a tech billionaire who funds the law firm; Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5Eva) as Renee, an opposing attorney; Ella Stiller (The Comeback) as legal assistant Christy; and Nik Dodani (Atypical) as Vik, a coder who seeks out the firm’s help. Meanwhile, Rob McClure (The Good Fight), Joe Morton (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), and Steven Pasquale (Rescue Me) will have recurring guest star roles; McClure will play potential client Bo, Pasquale will play veteran tech attorney Ry, and Morton will play Bayard, a celebrity lawyer who also happens to be Michael Price’s father.
Cupertino will premiere on CBS on Thursday, October 8
