Jessica Biel bagged another big role after a long break from feature films. She will star in Coffin Moon, a new vampire horror adaptation for Paramount Television Studios.
According to a Deadline report, Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean are developing the project under their first-look deal with Paramount. Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue will adapt Keith Rosson’s novel and serve as showrunners.
The plot is set around a brutal Oregon winter in 1975. It follows a veteran and his adopted niece as they hunt the vampire responsible for killing their family. The project comes as Rosson’s novel gets a paperback release from Random House. The book debuted in September 2025 and drew inspiration from Charles Portis’ True Grit.

Coffin Moon is another collaboration between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean. Their earlier project is The Ambler Warning, based on Robert Ludlum’s novel, with Biel attached to star and executive produce.
Harpster and Fitzerman-Blue previously worked together on A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. They also created and served as showrunners on Netflix’s Painkiller, which explored the origins of the opioid crisis.
Rosson will serve as a consulting producer on the adaptation. He is known for novels including Crone, Fever House and The Devil by Name.
The announcement comes amid Biel preparing for her return to movies with Matchbox The Movie. She stars alongside John Cena in the action-adventure film, which premieres globally on Apple TV on October 9, 2026.
Matchbox The Movie is Biel’s first feature film since 2017’s Shock and Awe. She continued acting during that period through television projects including The Sinner, Limetown, Candy, and The Better Sister.
Unlike Matchbox, Coffin Moon is being developed as a television series rather than a feature film. The project is still in development and has no announced premiere date.
