‘A Man on the Inside’ to End with Season 3!!

The cozy mystery genre has had a moment in recent years, spearheaded by Hulu‘s Only Murders in the Building. Netflix has their own answer to the genre, which is now headed into its third season. Now, we have an update about its progress…and the revelation of whether its third season will be case closed for the series.

A Man on the Inside sees Ted Danson star as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired engineering professor and widower who seeks a new challenge in life. The series kicks off when he impulsively answers an ad from private detective Julie Kovalenko (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), who’s looking for a senior citizen to infiltrate Pacific View, an assisted-living community. It turns out Charles has a sense for detective work, and becomes a regular at Julie’s detective agency; season 2 saw him join a college’s faculty as he investigated a conspiracy against its new owner.

Now we know that Charles‘ next case will be his last. A Man on the Inside will come to an end with its third season, which is now in production. Netflix shared a first image of Danson from the set, and a statement from series creator Mike Schur: “This series began with a retiree taking a chance at a new life. By answering a help wanted ad and venturing out into the world, Charles Nieuwendyk made his world bigger and proved that life only slows down if you let it. We are thrilled to be able to conclude his journey with one final chapter, as embodied by the great Ted Danson, who I am legally required to refer to as a ‘National Treasure.'” Season 3 will see Charles investigate a series of mysterious attacks on a wealthy socialite’s philanthropic works.

Who Stars in ‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 3?

Danson and Estrada are back, as are series regulars Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Eugene Cordero (as Chloe and Joel, Charles’ daughter and son-in-law), Stephanie Beatriz (as the manager of Pacific View), Stephen McKinley Henderson and Sally Struthers (as residents of Pacific View) and Mary Steenburgen (as Mona Margadoff, an eccentric music professor who Charles almost married). Joining the cast this season are Bernadette Peters (The Jerk) as Charles’ client, Coco Van Beck; Annette O’Toole (Smallville) as Coco’s best friend; Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore) as Coco’s ex-husband; Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live) as Coco’s long-suffering assistant; Diedrich Bader (Office Space) as Coco’s archrival; Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as one of Coco’s employees; Jessica St. Clair (Based on a True Story) as Chloe’s friend; and Stephen Root (Widow’s Bay) as Charles’ long-estranged brother.
