‘Shrinking’ Season 4 Adds Judith Light!!

Apple TV may not have anywhere near the same subscriber numbers as other platforms like Netflix or Prime Video, but it’s second only to HBO Max in the quality of its original programming. Apple is a profitable company without its movie and TV division at Apple TV, which allows for the streamer to spend more money on better writers, talent, and higher quality productions than some other services, which have to cut corners due to the lack of income streams. Several popular Apple TV shows have blossomed in the last five or six years, but few have reached the same heights as Ted Lasso, the Jason Sudeikis-starring Emmy-winner that was written and created for TV by Bill Lawrence. Lawrence also penned another popular Apple TV show, Shrinking, which is co-written by Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein, who also stars in the show.

The first season of Shrinking premiered back in 2023, and only one year later, the show was brought back for Season 2. Then the series went on hiatus for two years before returning for Season 3 earlier this year, and Apple TV has already picked up Shrinking for a fourth season. No word yet on exactly when Shrinking Season 4 will premiere, but most expect it to return to streaming before the end of next year. Plot details about the new season are, expectedly, being kept under wraps for right now, but news broke this afternoon that Judith Light is among the new stars officially joining the Shrinking Season 4 cast. Details about her character are also being kept close to the vest right now, but the report indicates her role is recurring, meaning fans can expect to see her in nearly every episode. Light and Shrinking star Michael Urie previously worked together on Ugly Betty.

What Is ‘Shrinking’ About?

In addition to Brett Goldstein, Shrinking also stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, who is also one of the co-creators of the series. Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams also star in key roles in Shrinking as Gaby and Paul. The official synopsis for Shrinking, which holds scores of 93% from critics and 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes across all three seasons so far, reads as follows: “Jimmy struggles to grieve the loss of his wife while being a dad, friend and therapist; he decides to try a new approach with everyone in his path, unfiltered, brutal honesty; will it make things better-or unleash uproarious chaos?”
