Small Prophets follows Michael Sleep, a struggling man who has yet to come to terms with the disappearance of his girlfriend Clea from seven years ago. Working in a DIY store, Michael’s father shares a recipe involving rainwater, horse manure, and alchemy to create Homunculi. Using this, Michael sets out to create the Homunculi to ask, “Will I ever see Clea again?”

What happens in the Small Prophets trailer?
The trailer begins with Michael visiting his father at a nursing home, reminding him that Clea went missing many years ago. His father, Brian, directs him to the Homonculi, described as “tiny prophets who lived in glass jars full of water.” Michael sets out to collect a bunch of jars while deflecting questions from nosy neighbors.
Small Prophets is created, written, and directed by Crook. The filmmaker also serves as an executive producer, joined by Lisa Thomas of Treasure Trove Productions and Christine Gernon and Emma Strain of Blue House Productions. The series was acquired by Apple TV from Sphere Abacus, an international distributor. The show was filmed in Manchester and incorporates several animated elements to tell its story.
Small Prophets premieres October 7, 2026, on Apple TV. However, subscribers in the UK will get it in 2027. New episodes will premiere every Wednesday through November 4, 2026. A second season is also in the works.
