What happens in Netflix’s ChiaroScuro trailer?
The trailer introduces Cosmo Speranza, played by Spollon, an expert art adviser who can spot fake masterpieces from minute details. He arrives at a crime scene of a murder being investigated by Rome’s Mobile Squad and Inspector Angelo Tiberi (Andrea Lattanzi).
In the opening scene, Tiberi warns Speranza not to enter the premises because it is an active crime scene. However, Speranza points out that the murder scene appears to perfectly recreate an Artemisia Gentileschi painting. The police then realize the actual painting was just stolen from the gallery. Given his keen eye for art, Cosmo ends up becoming a consultant to the police team as they investigate a series of murders. The unlikely duo works together to solve mysterious murders that appeared to be recreated from famous works of art.
The 2-minute-8-second footage then teases a personal side to the mystery. Cosmo begins to believe that the killer is communicating with him directly through crimes. That prompts him to reopen the investigation into his father’s death.
ChiaroScuro stars Pierpaolo Spollon, Andrea Lattanzi, Matilde Gioli, Romana Maggiora Vergano and Aurora Giovinazzo. Alessandro Preziosi and Paz Vega also make special appearances. Lux Vide, a Fremantle company, produced the show. Umberto Gnoli, Michela Straniero, Francesco Arlanch, Elena Bucaccio and Silvia Leuzzi wrote the series. Jan Maria Michelini directed it.
Billed as a light crime series and buddy comedy set in the art world, the eight-episode series will premiere on Netflix on November 11.
