The season of the witch is here, and that means Mayfair Witches is preparing to cast its spell over viewers once more. The Alexandra Daddario-led entry in AMC‘s Immortal Universe is back, and it’s coming to the place where American witchcraft was born. AMC unveiled the trailer for the third season of the horror series at New York Comic Con this evening, and revealed that the new season may premiere sooner than you expected.
Mayfair Witches is an adaptation of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels by Anne Rice. It is part of the Immortal Universe of series based on Rice‘s works, along with The Vampire Lestat (formerly known as Interview with the Vampire) and the late, lamented Talamasca: The Secret Order. It stars Daddario as Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who learns that she’s secretly the scion of an ancient family of witches. She soon encounters Cortland Mayfair (Harry Hamlin), the family patriarch who has a boneyard of skeletons in his closet, and Ciprien Grieve (Tongayi Chirisa), an agent of a secret organization that monitors supernatural entities.
In the new trailer, Rowan is headed for Salem, Massachusetts, a town that has not quite put its history of witchcraft behind it. She’s going to have to deal with a new coven of witches that threatens to spell doom for her and everyone she’s ever cared about. The trailer also offers glimpses of the season’s new cast members, including Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), James Frain (The Tudors), Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects), and Omar Maskati (The Recruit). The new season will premiere on the cusp of the New Year: look for it on AMC and AMC+ on December 30, 2026.
What Happened on Season 2 of ‘Mayfair Witches’?
Last season saw Lasher (Jack Huston), the immortal spirit that has been bonded to the Mayfair family for generations, take on physical form as Rowan’s son. After killing his way through a number of Mayfair relations, he escaped overseas to hook up with the more sinister Scottish branch of the Mayfair family; he soon found himself betrothed in a pairing that threatened to unleash a horror beyond imagination. Rowan and her allies followed him there; Lasher seemingly perished, but an even deadlier evil may have been unleashed on the world. The malevolent spirit of Julien Mayfair (Ted Levine) is now in possession of Cortland’s body, leaving Cortland trapped in his own mindscape.
Season 3 of Mayfair Witches will premiere on AMC on December 30, 2026.
