As we move into a brand new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Avengers: Endgame, we’ll soon be welcoming a number of new characters into the MCU as fresh faces come to the forefront of the superhero universe.
We already know that Marvel Studios is working on The Eternals and Shang-Chi, and if a report from MCU Cosmic is to be believed, it seems the cosmic superhero Nova may soon be making his big screen debut with the site claiming that development on a solo movie is now officially underway.
If you’re unfamiliar with Nova, the character is the alter-ego of Richard Rider, a member of the Nova Corps (the intergalactic police force seen in Guardians of the Galaxy) from Earth, who – thanks to the Nova Force – possesses superhuman strength, speed and durability as well as the power of flight. A younger version of Nova, Sam Alexander, was introduced to the Marvel comic book universe in 2011.
While the rumor is unconfirmed at present, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to hear that a Nova movie is in the works, with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige stating last year that: “[If] we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].”
