‘Thunderbolts’ Is Heading for Reshoots!!

Marvel‘s Thunderbolts* is one of a trio of massive releases from Disney and Marvel Studios next year, alongside Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie is due to open in theaters in May, and a lengthy first look at the movie was revealed last month at D23 Brazil following the news earlier this year that it had concluded principal photography. However, there’s been a development as in the last few days, the movie has headed back to Atlanta for additional photography on the movie. Now, this could be cause for alarm because Brave New World had to be reshot enormously due to issues with the script and story, but it seems like Thunderbolts* is just doing some pick-up shots, which is entirely standard for a movie of this size.

The news came out after a fan spotted director Jake Schreier calling the shots on set. While no cast members have been seen yet, it’s important to note that reshoots are a standard part of Marvel‘s production process. So, what’s the goal of these Thunderbolts reshoots? That’s anyone’s guess, but there’s plenty of speculation of which we wouldn’t care to participate, but it could just be that the lighting on a few wide scenes wasn’t right, or that there was a continutity error, or maybe it’s to plant seeds for the team’s future role in Avengers: Doomsday. Who knows?

Fans Have No Idea What ‘Thunderbolts*’ Is

The movie features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Lewis Pullman as “Bob.” The gang team up and… that’s about all that we know for sure.

Schreier recently gave some insight into the movie’s tone, and noted that nobody actually knew the real story:I’ve seen a lot of synopses out there that just say, as though it’s a fact, that it’s a team assembled by Valentina to go do bad things. I understand why that would be the assumption, but that is not the story.”

Schreier also teased that this was a team that didn’t want to be a team, saying, “It’s exciting to think of movies like Ronin or Reservoir Dogs, where you have a group of people that has no reason to trust each other. Could they even learn to work together? What sort of conflicts would arise?

Thunderbolts* hits theaters on May 2, 2025.
