One of Hollywood’s most beloved on-screen couples is getting one more go at it with the news that Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are officially reteaming for another film, as confirmed today by The Hollywood Reporter.
The Speed and The Lake House co-stars are set to reunite for an untitled film currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. While exact plot details are still being kept tightly under wraps (likely somewhere near the back of the bus), the project is being described as “propulsive”—suggesting high stakes, intense pacing, and maybe even a dash of danger. Which is exactly what we wanna hear.
But this isn’t just a reunion between the two stars, oh no, it’s a full-on Speed nostalgia trip. The pair are reteaming with Mark Gordon, who produced the original 1994 action classic. According to reports, Gordon and Oppenheim initially brought the concept to Reeves and Bullock, who were immediately on board and developed the film alongside them. Producing duties are split between Bullock via her Fortis Films banner, Reeves, Gordon and Bibby Dunn through The Mark Gordon Company, as well as Oppenheim and Bremner through Prologue. Prologue, for its part, is a relatively new company formed by industry vets Lloyd Braun, Bremner, and Oppenheim, in partnership with Jeff Zucker and RedBird Capital.
What Are Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock Up To Now?
For fans of Speed, the team-up feels like lightning in a bottle all over again. The 1994 action-thriller made over $350 million globally and helped define a generation of big-screen spectacle. While the film’s wild premise—”Die Hard on a bus“—hooked audiences, much of its staying power came down to the palpable chemistry between Reeves and Bullock, who was a real Wildcat behind the wheel if you all recall.
And it’s not like both of them are struggling to come up with a hit movie, far from it. Both stars remain high-profile players in Hollywood. Reeves most recently voiced Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and last appeared in John Wick: Chapter 4. He will next be seen in Ballerina, a Wick spin-off coming this summer, as well as The Entertainment System is Down from director Ruben Østlund. Meanwhile, Bullock was last seen in 2022’s pandemic-era hit The Lost City, which pulled in nearly $200 million at the worldwide box office. She also produced the film.
