Jude Law and Jason Bateman are brothers in big trouble in the first look at Black Rabbit. The duo will play brothers who get wrapped up in the seamy side of New York City’s clubland in the new drama. It was created by Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Kate Susman (The Order). The series will premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
In the new images, Law plays Jake Friedken, the owner of Black Rabbit, the successful restaurant and VIP lounge of the title. It’s on the verge of becoming the hottest spot in New York when his long-estranged brother, Vince (Bateman) comes back to town, bringing trouble with him. The images show off a grimy side of New York, as well as the contracting looks of the brothers: Law is neat and composed, while Batman is uncharacteristically long-haired and bearded. The series also stars Cleopatra Coleman (Infinity Pool), Amaka Okafor (Bodies), Sope Dirisu (Gangs of London), Troy Kotsur (CODA), Abbey Lee (Lovecraft Country), Chris Coy (The Deuce), Dagmara Dominczyk (Succession), Odessa Young (The Staircase), and Robin De Jesus (tick, tick… BOOM!).
What Have Jude Law and Jason Bateman Starred in Lately?
Last year, Law gave an acclaimed performance as an FBI agent in The Order, which was produced by the Black Rabbit creative duo of Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. He also headlined the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew as Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious space pirate. This year, he’ll star alongside Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas in the Ron Howard historical thriller Eden, and is set to play Vladimir Putin in Olivier Assayas‘ The Wizard of the Kremlin. Black Rabbit will be Bateman‘s first TV starring role since his acclaimed Netflix crime drama, Ozark, wrapped up in 2022; since then, he’s starred in the biopic Air and the actioner Carry-On, and is set to reprise his voice role as fox Nick Wilde in Zootopia 2. He will also star in the HBO black comedy miniseries DTF St. Louis alongside David Harbour.
Black Rabbit will be executive produced by Bateman, Michael Costigan, and Roxie Rodriguez’s Aggregate Films; Law and Ben Jackson’s Riff Raff Entertainment; Baylin and Susman’s Youngblood Pictures; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones from Automatik; Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon, and Erica Kay. The series will be directed by Bateman, Ben Semanoff, Justin Kurzel, and Bateman‘s Ozark co-star Laura Linney.
