‘The Inbetweeners’ Revival in the Works with the Original Cast!!

It’s time to dust off the briefcases, crank up the cringe, and reunite with the “Pussay Patrol.” Seventeen years after its debut, The Inbetweeners — one of the most beloved British sitcoms ever made — is officially coming back. According to a new report from Deadline, a deal has been “struck by Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions” to revive the hit E4 comedy. While details are still under wraps, the project could take the form of a new TV series, a movie, or even a stage adaptation. Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who first launched the series in 2008, confirmed their involvement in a joint statement.

“Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).”

Patrick Holland, CEO of Banijay UK, added that he’s thrilled to be working with the creators again:

“I have worked with Damon and Iain on a number of Fudge Park projects over the years and was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them. They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audiences old and new, so I can’t wait to get going.”

While the form of the revival is still being decided, the announcement alone is enough to send fans into nostalgic meltdown. When The Inbetweeners premiered on Channel 4’s E4 in 2008, it instantly became a cultural phenomenon. The series followed four painfully awkward teenagers — Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) — as they stumbled through the minefield of adolescence, social humiliation, and British secondary school life.

With its razor-sharp writing, pitch-perfect casting, and crude humor, The Inbetweeners became a hugely influential series in the UK, earning a devoted following and glowing reviews. It holds an 83% critics score and an even more impressive 93% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series also helped launch several careers, including comedian Greg Davies, who played the hilariously brutal headteacher Mr. Gilbert.

Will The Original Inbetweeners Cast Return?

As of now, no casting details have been confirmed — but all four original leads are now in or near their 40s, which opens the door for fresh storylines or even a generational handoff. Regardless of what form it takes, the creators’ involvement ensures that The Inbetweeners will retain the same cringe, chaos and hilariously crude charm that made it a classic in the first place.
