‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 Adds John Stamos, Dale Dickey, & Cam Gigandet!!

The Hunting Wives is expanding its hunting party next season. John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet are all joining the steamy Netflix drama for its upcoming second season. The surprise hit series was renewed earlier this year after a well-received first season. Stamos, Dickey, and Gigandet will be playing Chase Brylan, Zelda Moffitt and Gentle John Moffitt, respectively; no character details have yet been revealed.

Stamos is best known for playing “cool uncle” Jesse Katsopolis on Full House and its Netflix revival, Fuller House; he recently appeared on the Hulu series Unprisoned. Dickey is noted for playing grizzled, eccentric older women, and has given memorable performances in Winter’s Bone, Breaking Bad, and My Name Is Earl; she recently guest-starred on Prime Video‘s Fallout. Gigandet is a former teen star who has recently gravitated towards action roles; he’s starred in the recent actioners Without Remorse, Violent Night, and Love Hurts. Other additions to the show’s cast for season 2 include Kim Matula (Saturday Night) and Alex FitzAlan (Prosper).

What Is ‘The Hunting Wives’ About?

The Hunting Wives centers around Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow), a woman from Cambridge, Massachusetts who relocates to rural Maple Brook, Texas after killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence. Once there, she experiences extreme cultural shock in the deep-red heart of Texas; she falls in with the titular Hunting Wives, a group of gun-loving local socialites. She’s especially drawn to Margo (Malin Akerman), the queen bee of the Hunting Wives, and before long their friendship becomes far from platonic…even though Sophie and Margo are married to, respectively, architect Graham (Evan Jonigkeit) and oil tycoon Jed (Dermot Mulroney). Things get even more complicated when Abby (Madison Wolfe), a local teenage girl and the girlfriend of one of the Hunting Wives’ sons, turns up dead.

Originally commissioned by Starz, The Hunting Wives was acquired by Netflix when Starz was spun off by its parent company Lionsgate. It proved to be a critical and ratings success, with its steamy thrills earning a 77% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It proved to be enough of a cultural phenomenon that Saturday Night Live lampooned it with a mock season 2 trailer for the “the straight but lesbian horny Republican murder drama” starring Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza.

John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet have joined the cast of The Hunting Wives for season 2; no release date has yet been announced.
