Netflix has released the trailer for George Kay‘s new crime thriller, Blood Sacrifice. The TV show comes from the creator of Lupin and Hijack. First announced in June, Blood Sacrifice is a five-episode Swedish series following an investigator trying to untangle the mystery of a cop killer.

Blood Sacrifice is set during summertime in Stockholm, with its events kicking off with a 911 call sending two police officers to a house in the archipelago. While the cops don’t find anything there, the next morning their bodies are discovered, starting a chain of murders.

A former detective, Berg helps Thomas uncover the secret behind the new killer, who is specifically targeting police officers.

Netflix confirms the release date for its new crime thriller

Blood Sacrifice arrives on Netflix on August 20, 2026. The series is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, who previously helmed episodes of The Killing, Wolf, The Enfield Haunting, and more. Before Blood Sacrifice, Kay delivered multiple hits on TV, including Gone, The Long Shadow, and several spin-offs of the Criminal franchise.

“Blood Sacrifice is an intense, emotional journey,” said Oftebro. “Thomas is a man who has dedicated his life to the police, but when the attacks start targeting his own world, he’s forced to confront not only a brutal killer, but also the complicated relationship with his father. Playing him was both challenging and incredibly rewarding – it’s a story about justice, loyalty, and what happens when the past refuses to stay buried.”

Blood Sacrifice stars Jakob Oftebro, Peter Andersson, Electra Hallman, Alexander Abdallah, Henrik Norlén, Lisette Pagler, Magnus Krepper, Irina Björklund, Anders Mossling, and Anna-Maria Käll. The series is produced by B-Reel Films and Observatory Pictures, in association with New Pictures. Johannes Åhlund and Ulf Synnerholm are serving as producers on the show. Kay, Nyholm, Willow Grylls, and Matt Sandford are also serving as executive producers.
