Both ‘The Karate Kid’ Features to Re-Release Ahead of ‘Karate Kid: Legends’!!

Two of the biggest movies from the Karate Kid franchise will be coming back to theaters before Karate Kid: Legends premieres on the big screen. The Karate Kid (1984) and The Karate Kid (2010) will return on Saturday, May 10. Fans will be able to catch these stories on the big screen for one night only. Sony Pictures is getting ready to celebrate the premiere of the latest installment of the series by returning to the movies that turned this property into a pop culture landmark. That’s not even taking into account the streaming spinoff that dominated Netflix for a few years.

The original Karate Kid movie started it all by introducing Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) as a young man who wanted to defeat the Cobra Kai team that was led by Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The character was the former boyfriend of Daniel’s love interest, Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue). The only way to defeat the Cobra Kai fighters was to follow the advice given by Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). John G. Avildsen directed this heartfelt story that became an instant classic upon release. Over the course of four decades, fans have continued to have fun with the legacy of the original Karate Kid.

More than fifteen years after the release of the first movie, it was time to introduce a new generation of fans to the concept of The Karate Kid. Harald Zwart directed the story that introduced Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) as another young man who needed to be taught discipline through unconventional methods. Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) was the mentor in the legacy sequel. The project managed to earn $359 million at the global box office when it was released.

The movies that defined the current reputation of the franchise are coming back to theaters because Karate Kid: Legends is set to be released on May 30. The sequel directed by Jonathan Entwistle will mark the return of both Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio to the franchise. It’s time for Ben Wang to dive deep into the world of martial arts. Before he was cast as Li Fong for Karate Kid: Legends, the young actor was seen in the recent television adaptation of American Born Chinese. The world is getting ready for the return of one of the most beloved pop culture icons of all time.
