It’s been a big year for Percy Jackson fans so far, who have been feasting on news about their favorite show ahead of its return to Disney+. Percy Jackson Season 3 is already filming ahead of this winter’s Season 2 release date, but now we know exactly when the show will make landfall. It was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con during the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Panel that the show will premiere on December 10. It was previously confirmed that the show would debut in December, but Disney had not announced an official date. This is also more than a week earlier in December than the first season premiered, which debuted on December 19. The series was written and created for television by Rick Riordan, who also wrote the books on which the show is based.
The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians adapts Riordan’s novel, The Lightning Thief, while Season 2 will adapt The Sea of Monsters. Starring in the lead role of Percy Jackson in the Disney+ original series is Walker Scobell, who is also famous for starring opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project. Scobell is a certified star in the making, as are his Percy Jackson co-stars, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Jeffries plays the fearless Annabeth Chase, who is poised to step into a larger role in Season 2. Simhadri plays Percy’s best friend, Grover Underwood. Virginia Kull also stars in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Percy’s mother, Sally. The late Lance Reddick portrayed Zeus in Season 1, but due to his tragic passing, he has been replaced by Courtney B. Vance in Season 2.
Was Walker Scobell in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’?
After starring opposite Reynolds in The Adam Project, fans speculated that Walker Scobell was going to play Kidpool in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. However, the role ultimately went to Inez Reynolds, daughter of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Deadpool & Wolverine did recruit some notable stars to play Deadpool variants though, such as Matthew McConaughey, who plays Cowboypool. Deadpool & Wolverine also didn’t struggle in the slightest due to Scobell’s absence — the film grossed over $1.3 billion globally, making it the highest-earning R-rated movie of all time, even more than Joker.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will premiere on December 10 later this year.
