‘Mutiny’: Jason Statham’s Latest Action Thriller Moves Release Date to Summer 2026!!

Jason Statham’s action-packed 2026 slate just hit a major snag. Lionsgate has officially pushed back Mutiny, the star’s next big-screen vehicle, from its original January 9, 2026 release date to an unspecified slot in summer 2026. The move comes as a direct consequence of the reshuffling prompted by Greenland 2: Migration—starring Gerard Butlerwhich will now take over that January date.

The delay is a notable bump in the road for Statham, especially after his recent collaboration with David Ayer, A Working Man, brought in just under $100 million worldwide. While the film was far from a flop and enjoyed an impressive 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, its box office fell short of expectations following the duo’s previous hit, The Beekeeper, which earned $162 million globally.

While release date shifts are common in Hollywood, the timing of Mutiny’s move underscores a more strategic approach. With Greenland 2 primed for January, Lionsgate is betting that a summer launch will give Statham’s thriller the breathing room — and box office muscle — it needs to perform at its best. Still, for fans eager to see Statham back in action, the wait just got longer. But if his track record holds, Mutiny could be well worth it.

What Is ‘Mutiny’ About?

Mutiny stars Statham as Cole Reed, a man on the run after being framed for the murder of his billionaire industrialist boss. As Reed works to clear his name, he uncovers a sprawling international conspiracy that leads to an arsenal of bullets, explosions, and high-speed chases — all the essential Statham staples. No bees, sadly, which means any puns are likely to be in short supply. A definite blow to fans of wordplay.

Joining Statham in the cast is Jason Wong (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), playing Taran, Reed’s trusted confidant, as well as Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) in a mysterious role. The film is directed by Jean-François Richet (Plane, a film starring Butler, the man who has displaced the Stath from jis January 9 release date) from a screenplay by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis, with Statham producing under his Punch Palace Productions banner alongside Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures.

Mutiny is now eyeing a Summer 2026 release date.
