‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Gets Excellent Update From Jake Johnson!!

It’s been a long wait for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and that gap has left fans wondering which familiar faces would actually make it back for the final chapter. The movie’s been delayed more than once, and for a while, even some of the cast sounded unsure about where things stood. That’s why this latest update feels like a real one. One of the trilogy’s most loved Spider-Men is officially back in the mix, and it sounds like his role matters.

Jake Johnson has confirmed that he’ll return as Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Speaking to The Direct at the SXSW premiere of The Sun Never Sets, Johnson said he’s now started recording for the film. When asked if anything had changed since his 2024 comments about not having recorded yet, he replied, “That has changed. Yes, I’ve started recording. And it’s excellent.”

The full main cast of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld​​​​​​​ as Gwen Stacy, Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, Karan Soni as Spider-Man India, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir, Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales/Prowler, Greta Lee as Lyla, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was an even bigger hit commercially. It earned about $690.8 million worldwide, including $381.6 million domestic, nearly doubling the first film’s global total. It didn’t win the Oscar, but it was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2024 Academy Awards.

Sony’s currently set to release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 18, 2027.
