‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Renewed for Season 6, 7 & 8!!

Welcome to Wrexham has spent the last few years growing from a curiosity into one of the most beloved sports docuseries on television, with the story of Wrexham AFC becoming much bigger than anyone probably expected at the start. What began as two Hollywood stars buying a struggling football club has turned into a genuine long-game success story for both the team and the show around it. The series has followed that rise step by step, and audiences have clearly stayed locked in. Now FX has made a pretty huge commitment to keeping that story going.

FX has officially renewed Welcome to Wrexham for three more seasons, a pickup that will carry the series through Season 8 and into 2029 on FXX and Hulu. The news arrives just ahead of the Season 5 premiere, which is set for Thursday, May 14, with the first two episodes dropping at 9 p.m. ET on FXX and Hulu, and on Disney+ internationally. The eight-episode season will then continue weekly.

In the official announcement, FX Entertainment president Nick Grad said the three-season order is a testament to the vision of Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds, and to the connection they’ve built with fans around the world. Mac and Reynolds said a three-season order is “nearly unheard of” and credited the show’s documentary team, the club’s rise, and FX’s support for making it possible. Welcome to Wrexham is executive produced by Rob Mac, Ryan Reynolds, Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Humphrey Ker, Nicholas Frenkel, George Dewey, and Boardwalk PicturesAndrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma, and Andy Thomas.

How Are Wrexham Doing?

Season 5 will track Wrexham AFC’s push for promotion to the Premier League after three consecutive promotions. The new season will also follow the added pressure around a reshaped squad, higher costs, and the continued attention on whether the club can keep climbing. This season on the field, Wrexham are performing above expectations in this season’s English Championship, hovering around the play-off location in the latter stages of the season. A good run of form between now and next month would see them go into a four team knock-out series, where the winner will gain promotion to the English Premier League, and the riches that come with it. This would be the ultimate fairytale ending.

Welcome to Wrexham streams on FXX.
