ABC’s cop-drama, Will Trent, starring Ramón Rodríguez, has been renewed for Season 4, with an 18-episode order. The show first premiered in January 2023 and follows Rodriguez, who plays the titular Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) detective with a troubled past. Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling series of the same name, the show also stars Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, and Sonja Sohn in notable roles.

Will Trent Season 3 premiere in January 2025 attracted 9.75 million total viewers on ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and other digital platforms. The show also earned a series-high in streaming viewership at the time, which solidified its place as one of ABC’s top performers.

The police procedural joins other fan-favorite shows that have been renewed for ABC’s 2025-26 primetime lineup. The list includes 9-1-1, Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie, Abbot Elementary, and High Potential. Will Trent is the network’s “underrated success story.” The show is ABC’s most watched scripted series based on live viewership, with 9-1-1 coming in at second in total viewers.

Ariana Madix Opens Up About Her Steamy ‘Will Trent’ Scene With Jake McLaughlin

Vanderpump Rules alum Ariana Madix appeared as a guest star in Will Trent Season 3, Episode 8, which aired on February 25, 2025. In an interview with Swoon, Madix shared that she plays a “heightened version” of herself on the show as she crosses paths with Detective Ormewood, played by McLaughlin. The episode features a scene of the two dancing together before Ormewood and Madix recreate a moment from The Bodyguard as the detective carries her to safety.

Madix believes that the scene was a cool reference to the 1992 thriller starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. According to Madix, she and McLaughlin pulled up the VHS cover of the movie for inspiration. In her exact words: “We really wanted to get that in there and make sure that it was perfect.” The reality star shared how exciting shooting the sequence was for her.

Near the end of Madix’s appearance, she shares a passionate kiss with Ormewood. However, the reality star revealed that it was actually the first scene she shot on set. “We had to to zero to 100 right away,” she joked. But the Love Island host admitted that it was a great way to kick things off because the “vibe” of that scene helped her feel less nervous. She revealed that her co-star was “very chatty” and offered her the reassurance she needed in the moment. Ultimately, Madix feels like the kiss at the end of the episode left things open-ended, which is why she isn’t ruling out a return to the show in the future.

Will Trent Season 3 is currently airing every Tuesday on ABC. Episodes are also available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
