Tracy Morgan is headed back to NBC, and Daniel Radcliffe is coming with him. The duo will star in a previously untitled sitcom from Morgan‘s Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock colleague Tina Fey, which is now called The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Variety reports the half-hour comedy has been picked up to series by NBC, who also released the first image from the series.
In the first image, Morgan (playing the titular Dinkins) sits on a park bench with Radcliffe and co-star Erika Alexander (Living Single). Morgan will play Reggie Dinkins, a disgraced running back trying to rehabilitate his image. Helping him out are Arthur Tobin (Radcliffe), an award-winning documentary filmmaker who’s living with Reggie to film an immersive film about his comeback, and Monica (Alexander), Reggie’s childhood sweetheart turned ex-wife, who is also his agent and business manager. Also starring on the series are fellow SNL alum Bobby Moynihan as Gator, Reggie’s unfailingly loyal former teammate; Precious Way (Queens) as Brina, Reggie’s fiancée who sees the documentary as a way of getting famous herself; and Jalyn Hall (Till) as Carmelo, Reggie and Monica’s teenage son. It’s the second TV series Morgan has in the works: he’s also set to star in Crutch, a Paramount+ spinoff of The Neighborhood.
What Other Comedies Are Coming and Going at NBC?
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will be a substantial 30 Rock reunion; in addition to star Morgan and executive producer Fey, Robert Carlock (via Bevel Gears) and Sam Means will write and executive produce the series. Rhys Thomas will executive produce and direct the pilot; Eric Gurian of Fey’s Little Stranger banner and David Miner of 3 Arts will also executive produce.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will premiere on NBC next season; no premiere date has yet been announced.
